The Chesapeake Bay Tunnel has a tunnel/bridge combo. This connects Virginia Beach to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. One of the “islands” created by the tunnel has a restaurant and a bunch of signs. These signs explain the types of military boats you might see in the bay.
This was actually a day trip for my family, as my mother had always wanted to see the tunnel. It cost us about $15 at the time for a one way trip through the tunnel and then $15 to come back through it. Personally, the best part of this day trip was checking out the parks on the Eastern Shore. The food at the restaurant was alright.
Fun story, my mother and sister were highly disappointed when they found out the tunnels were solid, They had thought that they would be able to see out into the bay through some sort of windows.
Overall, if you are trying to get to the other side of the bay go for it. If you are thinking about making it the main part of your trip, it might be a disappointment.
